URBAN STYLE SAVE THE DATE PORTRAIT SESSION

More and more couples are choosing to both celebrate their engagement and announce a date for their forthcoming wedding by having some photographs taken. These images, which are taken in a very relaxed setting, celebrate their enjoyment of being together are often used to create cards, invitations, signing frames or a book for their wedding. If the photographer has already been booked for the wedding, then these sessions can be a wonderful way for the photographer and client to get to know each other, and for the couple to experience the camera, away from the more intense experience of their big day.

Ananda and Darren took the opportunity to have some pictures taken after Ananda’s portrait session (seen on the previous blog), so it seemed only fair to include¬†some images of Darren in his own.

A really talented couple, Ananda is a lingerie buyer for one of the major department stores and Darren is a rising star in the world of brewing, and not only creates his own highly regarded ales, but works in one of the growing number of independent breweries in London. Having recently moved to the increasingly trendy area of East London they wanted to incorporate the local area and have an urban edge to their photographs, which led to an urban style save the date portrait session. The streets surrounding their house offered up lots of rich, slightly industrial backdrops, railway arches and the layered colours of peeling paint, which I love.

In contrast to the streets of East London, Darren proposed to Ananda on holiday in Thailand. In a most classically romantic setting, they were watching the sun go down, whilst bathing in an infinity pool, looking out over the sea. With the ring safely on his finger, Darren swam over to Ananda and placed it on her finger. Darren’s top tip was to propose at the beginning of the holiday so it was possible to¬†relax for the rest of it.

It was really enjoyable spending time with Darren and Ananda and I increasingly feel very privileged to witness and capture some really lovely moments between the couples I photograph.
