LONDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN ST JAMES’S SQUARE

Photographing a wedding is a huge responsibility, where the bride and groom place their trust in you to record the memories they will have of their day. As a photographer, one needs to be ever alert, flexible and at times very fast in order to capture key moments and work with the timings of the day.
Sometimes the photographer will ask a second shooter to attend the wedding with them. Many photographers who are new to weddings get their first taster of shooting a wedding by accompanying another photographer, as I did. Some photographers use a second shooter as a matter of course and sometimes the bride and groom will request a second shooter if they want coverage of the groom before the ceremony, as well as the bride. This was the case when Philippa Sian Photography invited me to second shoot this beautiful wedding in the In and Out Club in St James Square, London.
As a photographer I loved this opportunity to step back slightly and watch how things unfolded. In not having to keep my eye on the main recording of the event and knowing it was in completely safe and very organised hands, I could look for other things that were happening and try to find a slightly different view of the bride and groom and the wedding that would complement Phillipa’s work. I found that I could be more of a voyeur and try to capture shots where the bride and groom especially¬†were less aware I was there, and I really enjoyed capturing these moments where their attention was elsewhere. Philippa did an incredible job of photographing the wedding as seen on her blog. Below are some of the images I captured as the second shooter.
