SEASONAL AUTUMN PORTRAIT SESSION FOR CHILDREN
A very vivid memory I have from child hood, was the pleasure I got from stomping through the Autumn leaves and kicking them up with my feet, listening to the crunching sound they made, so for this Autumn portrait session for children I couldn’t resist the urge to grab my niece and nephew and take them leaf crunching. I obviously wanted to create some beautiful photographs in the process so chose vivid clothes from their wardrobes that would stand out against the leaves and also complement each other. And of course I needed them to match the super hero wellies, which are an obligatory accessory for any young boy – all super heroes in my opinion.
One thing I have learnt from photographing children, especially when you know them well, is that you just need to go with it, and that the ‘butter wouldn’t melt in their mouth look,’ which we love, is caught in a split second moment between them pulling funny faces, running off or becoming distracted by something far more interesting that having their picture taken, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
