ABOUT ME – Turning a passion into a business

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs as much as I have enjoyed taking them. Here is a little bit about me.
Like many others, who have developed what is a passion into a business, it seemed the most natural step to turn photography into a central part of what I do. It had become such an integral part of the way I worked and the way I spent my time that I reached the point where I realised that I didn’t want to put my camera down.

My Dad brought me my first Nikon camera when I was fifteen and I would take it to school to photograph my classmates, returning to his design studio to develop and print the black and white images. I realised then that I love people’s faces and the connection that takes place between photographer and subject when the shutter opens and closes. In that moment everything else is out of the frame. As a naturally shy teenager, this was something wonderful.

I still strive to create connection in photographs between myself and the people I photograph and also between the people within the pictures. There is something honest and easy about it, which I love and this can only be done, by creating a relaxed rapport with you. Conversly, I also enjoy a sense of voyeurism in the images I take. To capture someone in a reflective and soulful way, less aware of the camera is something I find really beautiful. You will see both of these elements when looking through my portfolio.

When I photograph you I am looking to create images that both stand alone as art pieces and also form part of a story, and I structure the shoots to encompass this approach. My fine art background heavily influences the way I see light, colour & composition and my main motivation is to create a truly beautiful image with you as the subject. Years of experience in photographic editing help me to create a beautiful finish to your images in post production, that give them a highly professional look often found in magazines.

I believe that images which take time to make deserve to be printed out and for this reason I provide them in the form of beautiful desk pieces, wall pieces and fine art albums, allowing them to be enjoyed and passed down for years to come.

Hi,Claire. We spoke at Daniel and Nicola’s wedding on Saturday. I’ve looked at your site. Some lovely work:you were far too modest. Makes my glass work look amateurish and twee. I’m looking to book a family portrait session and you will be my first port of call. Kind regards. Ken.ReplyCancel
